I have finished my first PocketPC project and am ready to let people try it out.   It's a pretty simple program.  It lets you hide icons in your programs screen without deleting them.    Then if you need to run them, hide it also lets you launch the hidden programs.  It's should be completely non-destructive so there is no need to worry about runninng it.   I haven't done the documentation yet but it's pretty simple to figure out.

Here is a like to the program in CAB format so you can drop it dorectly on your Windows Mobile device.

HideItCab.CAB (34.45 KB)

If you are not comfortable installint it directly or just want to use the windows installer which includes the required CompactFramework 2.0 you can download it here.

HideItWindowsInstaller.msi (4.8 MB)

I'm considering this a stable beta so if you would like to try it out., please do and let me know what you think.

Now that my first year of shooting a Photo a Day is complete, I wanted to take my pictures and display them in a together in a poster of some sort.    After playing around with Photoshop for hours, I decided to use my other skill to solve the problem.  So I sat down and created a piece of software to take my images and arrange them into a decent looking poster.     Well, a few people commented that they liked  the output that I posted so I spent a few hours tonight to clean it up and make it usable for others.    It is somewhat different from other Mosaic software.   This software does not try to create a hidden image out of your photos....it simply arranges the images into a grid for display.  Also, it assumes that the images are square.  Any images that are not square are simple squished to be a square so unless you want squished images, you will need to do some preprocessing.    I may fix this if becomes a bother.   The image at the right is typical of the output.

Here are some of the features I put in already...

  • Sort Images by EXIF Date or Filename
  • Choose a Background Color
  • Choose how many columns of images to use (rows are calculated based on the number of images)
  • Select a folder full of images (jpeg only)

Finally, the app is built using .NET 2.0 which is still beta so the installer will ask you download the new framework from Microsoft when you install.    If after all that you are still interested here it is. Be sure to shoot me any bugs you find or ideas on how to make it better.

DevBuddy Release Candidate
Sunday, May 02, 2004

DevBuddy is an application that allows you to store small scripts and text blocks in an easily available form.    In order to access them (to paste into code or a word document etc) you simply select the corresponding item from the DevBuddy command menu.     The comment is then moved into your clipboard to be pasted in the application of your choice.

The main reason I build it and update it every so often is to learn new languages.   This time the move is to C#.NET.

I have posted a release candidate of DevBuddy for those that are interested in trying it out.  It is available here.   To set it up, just unzip and install the application.   You can then select the options and then select any libraries you with to have included

If you have any ideas on how to make it better, fix a bug or just have an idea for a feature just let me know and I will try to accommodate you.
