Just some updates

Well, I had a bit of trouble with the new Rebel. I kept getting bad pixels. Needless to say that wasn't going to work. Well, after returning and getting a replacement 2 times, I finally have one that takes a pretty clean picture.  If you don't know what bad pixels are.... don't find out.  I began noticing mine after about 20-30 shots.  Each of them had a small purple dot.  After that I used a program called DeadPixelTest to identify the pixels..  This handy utility identifies bad pixels by looking at images for either dead or hot (bright) pixels.

In all of the trouble, I did manage to take some shots. I have uploaded them here. I would love to hear your comments.

A couple of other updates.  The Dish 921 is finally shipping and I expect to get mine in a week or two. I will give an update when it arrives.  Of course, in traditional Dish Network fashion, they are a bit late to the game.  The HD Tivo looks like it will be here in March.  I expect the 921 will only be on my equipment rack for a little while.  At that time, I will probably switch to Directv and get the TiVo.

Now for something completely different

OK, enough of these delays, onto something fun.  My G35 is coming up on a year old so with one year left on the lease it is time to start deciding on a new car.  Of course finding a new car is one of my favorite hobbies.  So far, I am looking at three images/carspics.  Top of the list right now is the Nissan 350Z Roadster.  I am thinking Orange with the orange interior. Or maybe silver again.  I really miss my S2000 but just couldn't live that small of a car everyday.  My hope is that the Z will make a good everyday convertible.  My second choice right now is the Infiniti  FX45.  This thing has ALL the toys.  Rearview camera, Keyless Entry and Start, Laser Cruise control, V8 power and more.  The only problem is that it is kind of big.  Is it a sport-ute?  Since I really hate sport-utes, I am just going to call it a wagon.  My final choice right now is....another G35 Coupe.  I really like this car.  Any thoughts?

Oh, and I still don't have either a Treo or Dish 921.  Treo is "supposedly" shipping on the 17th.  The Dish 921 looks like it is another few weeks.

Well, I had a great Christmas and gave and received lots of great gifts. One item that no one could afford to get me, I decided to buy for myself.  It is the Canon Digital Rebel camera.    I have really been enjoying photography more and more and finally decided to get a true high end camera that didn't require me to compromise when taking pictures.    The camera is amazing.     Being basically a point and shoot camera owner in the past, this camera really helps you to get started using a higher end camera.   It has all of the automatic modes that I have always used on camera's such as Portrait, Landscape etc. This makes it work very much like a point and shoot camera.   However, it also has full manual modes for Aperture, Shutter and of course Focus.     This was the thing I was always missing in other camera's.  Trying to get the right depth of field and focus using a 1.5 inch LCD just never worked for me.      I haven't had a change to take many pictures yet but here are a couple to give you and idea what they look like.....now I just need some talent to go with the equipment

You can click on them here.     Beware, these are LARGE pictures.
