Well, I had a bit of trouble with the new Rebel. I kept getting bad pixels. Needless to say that wasn't going to work. Well, after returning and getting a replacement 2 times, I finally have one that takes a pretty clean picture. If you don't know what bad pixels are.... don't find out. I began noticing mine after about 20-30 shots. Each of them had a small purple dot. After that I used a program called DeadPixelTest to identify the pixels.. This handy utility identifies bad pixels by looking at images for either dead or hot (bright) pixels.
In all of the trouble, I did manage to take some shots. I have uploaded them here. I would love to hear your comments.
A couple of other updates. The Dish 921 is finally shipping and I expect to get mine in a week or two. I will give an update when it arrives. Of course, in traditional Dish Network fashion, they are a bit late to the game. The HD Tivo looks like it will be here in March. I expect the 921 will only be on my equipment rack for a little while. At that time, I will probably switch to Directv and get the TiVo. |
