Let the house process begin

OK, not really. But I am already starting to realize that I have a LOT of decisions to make. I know I want stucco outside but biggest decision I am struggling with is what style to go with inside. I want something that says something about me. Something techy but with a feel of quality. How does one introduce high tech to a house without it looking star trek? That is the problem before.

What have I decided so far....not much. I have decided to go for a bit more automation than my current home. This time, I will be doing at least 2 in-wall touch screens and full lighting and hvac control. I plan to use z-wave instead of the old x-10 tech this time. This new home automation technology is similar to x-10 in that it can be added to an existing home easily or into new construction but rather than relying on your power lines, it uses radio waves. This eliminates the problem x-10 has with getting signal to all devices.

I will be working throiugh the process of getting the house designed over the next could weeks with a local architect. I can't wait to get this process going so I can fill more productive and get down to making some quality decisions.

I am building a house

Lots of fun stuff happening lately. Haven't had much time to post or pick up my camera.

I finally got my new TV. It's samsung's new 1080p DLP. I upgraded since I hadn't got a new TV in a few years but wasn't expecting much of an upgrade. Boy was I wrong. This tv is a major upgrade from my old DLP. The blacks are blacker, the color is more accurate, and it's quiet. If you were holding our for DLP to get more "mature" now is the time. There aren't many reasons to stick with ancient CRT tech anymore.

Even bigger news is that after debating for years....I am finally going to build a house. I am also going to move south a bit. Not to far, just 5 miles but for me that's pretty far south. New house will be 3-4 bedrooms, 2 story and have a pretty open floorplan (as soon as the architect finishes it) I am going to try to spend a fair bit of money on amenities such as granite counters. My big splurge will probably be touch screen home automation. Already have that picked out Should be fun.
