House now has real walls.   They did the sheetrock work this week.  Alene was dissapointed that she can't get from the living room to the bedroom with one step.    It looks very different.   I can't tell if it looks bigger or smaller but it's definitely different.

I have a number of decisions that are coming up.   The biggest is probably the lights.  We have done some light shopping but haven't made any final decisions.  The only hold up on the lighting is deciding the color.   I can't decide if I want to use a blue accent color or a caramel colored accent.   Which ever I decide on will determine the color of the pendent lights.

The other big decision is what to do on the walls.   I can go smooth, textured or hand textured.    Hand texture looks really good but a bit old world.   Since most of my furniture tends toward the modern, that might not work.

Calm before the storm

Well, we are at the mid point.  Wring is done, ac is in, ducts are run, and the house is clean and ready to be inspected.   I snapped these pics since it's probably the last time it will be clean for the next view months.    Bricks also arrived on site so things are getting ready to move.

We also picked out tile this week.   It was difficult but I think we got something that looks pretty good.   We decided to get a Mocha colored tumbled marble back splash with a tropic brown granite counter.  The floor will be a ceramic tile in a lighter mocha color.   We are going to go a little weird in the master bathroom...Green Slate.    Should look fun.

The Best Birthday Cake Ever
Wednesday, April 19, 2006

So after living life with the new Mac mini the last week, I am loving it.   Not only can I now boot windows with Apples new firmware upgrades but Parallels is getting quite good.  This is the new Virtualization software for Intel Macs which allows you to run windows.   I am still trying to find the best keyboard/mouse combo for it but I think OSX maybe a permanent fixture on my desktop from now on.

My birthday was last Thursday and Alene made me a snazzy mac mini cake.  Here is a picture of it.

Former switcher tries it again...

After a failed attempt at switching to OSX a few years ago, I am at it again.   I have decided to take a different tack at it this time.  Today, I ordered a Mac mini 1.66 dual with 2GB of ram and a 120GB Hard Drive.    Should be enough for me to dual boot with Apple's new BIOS supporting firmware and Boot Camp.   Also, I crammed in a pile of ram so I can run Windows in virtualization when someone finally gets some decent software.

I REALLY wanted to get a MacBook but I am just too in love with this Sony SZ Premium so it is definately staying as my primary laptop.    Plus the mini maxed out was a good 900 bucks cheaper than the MacBook.  Instead the SZ I bought hree weeks ago is going back (unless someone wants a good deal on it) to make room on my desk for my next attempt at running OSX day to day.

My Ludite sister has a blog !!!!

Holy Crap, my technophobic ludite sister has a blog.     After utterly rejecting the ipod, numerous personal organizers and considering a pentium 3 and upgrade, she has finally embraced modern technology.    Yep, we are definately opposites    I added her blog to my odds and ends but here is a link.

Next lets see if we can get her to say RSS :)
