After 3 very busy weeks, I finally have a chance to sit down and take
a breather. Moving was a pain in the ass. Since the house wasn't quite done (and still isn't really) I didn't end up getting my stuff out of the old house until the day of closing (Sept 1,) so the move was quite a rush. Doing all of the moving work myself was kind of stressful and depressing, but my parents dove in and took up the slack and helped me get it all done. Mom even cleaned my old house just in time for the new owner to move in.
The new house is still not quite done but it's done enough that I was able move in. There are finally some pictures to look at so you can check them out. I am very happy with how the house turned out, it has solid bones that I am looking forward to decorating. My next task is to attempt to fill it with the Asian Contemporary style I like to surround myself with.
The inside still have a few tasks uncompleted. The pendent lights for the island aren't installed, there is a new new vent hood coming (yes, the 3rd iteration) and there are a few odds and ends that need fixed or repaired. The outside was pretty much put on hold by a huge amount of rain that we got right about closing time. But it's now on track with the landscaping finally completed and the lawn finally going in on Monday or Tuesday.
I still haven't found a cure for being depressed but I have found a pretty good
treatment....wiring. I have been wiring like a madman since I moved in. While the electricians did the hard stuff, there were numerous terminations, switches and A/V wring that needed done. I have it mostly completed and now can control probably 90% of the stuff via the touchscreen and computers in the house. There are a few wiring jobs left to do but Ryan and I are going to knock them out one night this week.
In case you are wondering, Alene is still gone and I am pretty sure she will not be coming back. Last I heard, she decided to move to another state to live with some people she met online. It's a group of people she met through their love for the show Firefly. It's quite ironic that it used to be one of my favorite shows, in fact, I introduced it to Alene. I have always found it interesting that there are these split second inflection points in peoples lives. You know those decision points that you look back on as the instant when your life changed. For example, the instant you make a wrong turn and get into a bad wreck, or get the reults of a medical exam or come to the end of a long relationship. For me, the day I bought those Firefly DVD's is an inflection point that I will always look back on and wonder what would have happened if I hadn't made that little decision.
Well, that's all for now. After a stressful 3 weeks, I am officially back and since this house is finally done, I can go back to some of my other life deversions such as photography and spending endless hours researching the latest gadgets...didn't I hear the new Tivo Series 3 just came out
