Time to Recooperate

Sometimes, you get a blessing in disguise.    This weekend, in an uncharacteristic attempt to do something nice, I helped my bud Eric move into his new house....and wouldn't you know it... I managed to strain my back pretty good.     Not your typical "ouch my back hurts" type of strain...more the "ah oh.. I will not be standing for a while" type.    So, since then, I have been down for the count.  As it turns out.... it turned out just fine..   Rather than my normal weekend of shopping or coming up with some unnecessary project to get done, I had an excuse to just sit at home on the couch and watch movies, eat popcorn and occasionally be somewhat social with friends and family.   I got absolutely nothing done that needed done and that's fine with me..  It was my favorite type of weekend.

One more week to go and we are off to see the mouse.   Yep, that's right... I am actually getting on a plane and I and not doing it for work.    Come Saturday, the fam is Disney bound.     Almost every thing is set and ready to go.   We have plane tickets, hotels,  rental car and hopefully a rough plan for how we will spend the time.    It should be blast.

Well Spent Spring
Tuesday, May 15, 2007

I finished my last run for the spring and with all the work I have done finally managed to meat my goal of finishing a 5k in under 25 minutes.    My final time in the Full Moon Run came in at 24:43.    It was a hot day so I am pretty happy with that time.     I am anxious for this fall when it get's cool.    After the run sis showed up to join me in a few free beers and a slice of pizza.    Someone should have told her that it was a running event as she showed up in jeans and a cute shirt but no one seemed to mind.

I finally got to see Spiderman 3 this weekend.    It wasn't as good as the last one but I did enjoy it. Appearently I made a new friend while I was there too.    Toward the end of the movie, I was sitting there enjoying the action when up the aisle came a little boy.    He was probably 5-6.    He plopped down next to me grabbed my coke and started drinking away.    I simply said, Hi....what's your name with a smile..    He looked at me just in time for his father to grab him and wisk him away while I had a good chuckle.    I still don't know if he was confused or just really thirsty but it made an otherwise so so movie memorable so I didn't mind at all.

Long week ahead.....my weekend didn't take so I am looking forward to the next one.

It's Raining Again....
Monday, May 07, 2007

After last week, I think I have a mild case of seasonal defective disorder.    I have seen the sun maybe 3-4 times this week and the humidity is crazy,     Between that and listening to Lily Allen over and over, it's enough to give you a major case of the blahs.    Tonight, the rain was poring once again and the satellite was out so I decided to kill the lights, poor a glass of wine and enjoy the show.     The reflections of the neighborhood lights of the shiny wet streets was kind of captivating especially with the backdrop of lightning that struck every few seconds.    It was a nice way to end the weekend.

The weekend wasn't a total loss.    I got a lot done.     Finished lot's of chores at moms house.  I listed some stuff on ebay so I can justify the cost of this new phone I am carrying around.   Also, I had another run on Friday.    In fact, it was my best time so far.    I think the final time was 25:09.     Considering my last run finished at 27+ I am pretty happy with the time.   It was a tough race.   There are a lot more hills downtown than I thought their were but I managed to pace myself such that I finished with very little left over.

Next week is the Full Moon run which is not only a nice flat course but hopefully a pretty good party so hopefully I can get a few other people to come out and join in the fun.
